Job Title

Architect, Applications Engineering

Role Summary

Pre-sales technical architect for FPGA prototyping platforms (HAPS) and ProtoCompiler, partnering with sales to design and validate prototyping solutions for SoC validation and RTL-to-hardware workflows.

Work directly with prospective customers to scope technical evaluations, build proofs of concept, and accelerate purchasing decisions through technical credibility and solution design.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience in FPGA-based prototyping, ASIC design, or SoC validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include leading customer-facing technical engagements and delivering proof-of-concept work that demonstrates value.

  • Lead pre-sales technical engagements for FPGA prototyping platforms and ProtoCompiler.
  • Architect tailored prototyping solutions covering partitioning, clocking, performance, debug, and integration with customer flows.
  • Run technical evaluations, POCs, and benchmarks to demonstrate practical solutions to customer problems.
  • Present demonstrations, technical presentations, and architecture reviews to engineering and executive stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with sales to qualify opportunities, handle technical objections, and shape go-to-customer strategy.
  • Prepare accurate technical responses to RFPs/RFIs and produce customer-facing technical content.
  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with customer architects and engineering leaders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; items listed as "desirable" are indicated.

  • 10+ years hands-on experience in FPGA-based prototyping, ASIC design, or SoC validation (removed degree details to Education Requirements).
  • Proven track record in pre-sales or customer-facing technical roles supporting complex EDA tool sales or hardware platform engagements.
  • Deep practical knowledge of FPGA architectures (Xilinx, Intel, or similar) and RTL design in Verilog or VHDL, including synthesis flows and hardware bring-up and debug.
  • Experience architecting prototyping solutions for multi-million-gate designs, including partitioning strategies, clocking, and system integration.
  • Comfortable communicating with both engineers and executives and managing multiple active opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel for customer evaluations and presentations (potentially 30–50%).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience specifically with HAPS platforms, ProtoCompiler, or similar FPGA prototyping tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is requested.
