Job Title

APTD Substrate Quality Engineer

Role Summary

Lead quality and process control (PCS) improvement activities for the APTD substrate factory (CH8) to meet customer and manufacturing expectations. Partner with Module and Integration teams and external suppliers to embed disciplined process control, drive systemic improvements, and enable volume manufacturability for advanced package substrates.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Role requires significant hands-on manufacturing quality and process-control experience and demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional governance and capability-building efforts. See Education Requirements for degree and years guidance.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on establishing and operating a robust PCS discipline across the substrate factory and converting PCS signals into long-term improvements.

  • Chair and operate the PCS Working Group: set expectations, drive governance, ensure decisions translate into ownership and closure.
  • Provide PCS education and capability building: translate PCS intent, teach statistical thinking, and scale practical execution across the factory.
  • Drive continuous improvement: convert PCS exceptions and recurring patterns into root-cause analysis, systemic fixes, and durable process updates.
  • Define and execute PCS strategy and roadmap: partner with quality and cross-functional leaders to restore and sustain process control as an operating discipline.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform this role.

  • Proven manufacturing experience in a high-volume or advanced packaging environment.
  • Strong knowledge of process control and advanced statistical methods for monitoring and decision-making.
  • Experience leading cross-functional governance or working groups and driving disciplined program execution.
  • Ability to convert data/PCS signals into root-cause identification and systemic corrective actions.
  • Strong communication, systems thinking, stakeholder management, and ability to lead without formal authority.

Nice-to-have:

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent formal process-improvement certification.
  • Program management experience and model-based problem solving skills.
  • Data analysis and tooling: familiarity with statistical tools and intermediate programming (Python, JavaScript, SQL, Power BI).

Education Requirements

Master's degree plus 4+ years of industry experience, or PhD plus 2+ years of industry experience, in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Qualifications can be met through a combination of formal education, industry experience, internships, or relevant research/work.
