Job Title

Applied AI Engineer - VLSI Design

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's custom RAM design team to develop and deploy AI agents and machine-learning solutions applied to VLSI and CAD flows. The role combines software engineering, ML model development, and integration with circuit design infrastructure to improve design efficiency and quality.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” the role expects 5+ years of industry experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

Deliver production-capable AI features and infrastructure that assist VLSI engineers and integrate with CAD systems.

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI applications using LLMs and agentic frameworks for engineering assistants and multi-turn, multi-modal systems.
  • Build infrastructure to deploy LLM-powered solutions and integrate them into engineering workflows and CAD tools.
  • Develop agentic AI solutions, fine-tune models, and create RAG pipelines with deterministic and agentic retrieval mechanisms.
  • Create and maintain design databases and dashboards to surface engineering data and accelerate circuit design closure.
  • Collaborate with circuit design, layout, technology, and third-party EDA vendor teams across geographies.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required and desirable for success in this role.

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of proven industry experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python for rapid prototyping; strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
  • Experience with fine-tuning large language models, building multi-agent systems, RAG pipelines, and vector databases.
  • Experience deploying ML/LLM solutions and building associated infrastructure (CI/CD, testing, version control).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills; proven ability to work in distributed, product-focused teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and willingness to learn new skills as needed.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior experience with circuit design or hardware design.
  • Experience applying LLMs specifically to engineering or CAD tool integrations.

Education Requirements

Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field β€” or equivalent practical industry experience.
