Job Title
Applications Engineering, Staff Engineer - HAV
Role Summary
Senior applications engineer for the ZeBu emulation platform, working with customers to deploy, debug, and scale emulation for complex ASIC and SoC verification. The role spans presales demonstrations, post-sales support, and close collaboration with R&D and field teams to improve product usability and performance.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in IC design, verification, emulation, or FPGA prototyping.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer-facing technical work, system bring-up, and cross-team collaboration.
- Deploy and configure ZeBu emulation systems for evaluations and production, resolving bring-up issues on advanced ASIC/SoC designs.
- Debug verification and software validation issues across HDL, HVL, and embedded software to identify root causes.
- Support presales evaluations: demonstrate capabilities, build proof-of-concept flows, and advise on emulation strategy.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support and escalation resolution involving methodology, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to communicate customer requirements and influence the product roadmap.
- Create application notes, reference flows, and technical collateral to accelerate customer adoption.
- Analyze customer designs to recommend partitioning, testbench architecture, and co-simulation approaches for optimal emulation performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted where applicable.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in IC design, verification, emulation, or FPGA prototyping.
- Strong knowledge of ASIC verification methodologies, simulation, testbench development, and coverage-driven verification.
- Proficiency with Verilog and VHDL, and practical experience with design synthesis and debug.
- Good understanding of RTL-to-gate flows, synthesis, timing, and sign-off concepts.
- Experience debugging across HDL/HVL and embedded software layers to isolate system-level issues.
- SystemVerilog or C/C++ experience is a strong plus for testbench development or embedded validation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and customer interactions.
- Customer-facing problem solver who can triage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams.
