Role Summary

The Staff Applications Engineer will provide technical consulting and customer-facing support to semiconductor, advanced packaging, AI infrastructure, and electronics systems customers. The role focuses on deploying simulation-driven design workflows, engineering automation, and AI-enabled solutions to solve thermo-mechanical, reliability, and system-level challenges.

You will collaborate with R&D, product, and sales teams to deliver proofs-of-concept, benchmarks, and production deployments that accelerate customer product development.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of industry experience in semiconductor, advanced packaging, electronics systems, simulation software, or related engineering fields.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical consulting, solution delivery, and cross-functional collaboration to drive customer success and product adoption.

• Provide technical leadership and application support for simulation-driven design and engineering workflows.
• Work directly with customer engineering teams to analyze design challenges and deliver practical technical solutions.
• Deliver software evaluations, proofs-of-concept, benchmarks, and customer demonstrations.
• Support strategic accounts and drive deployment and adoption of simulation and automation tools.
• Develop application methodologies for advanced packaging, chiplets, hybrid bonding, fan-out packaging, and heterogeneous integration.
• Perform engineering studies: warpage prediction, thermo-mechanical reliability, stress analysis, fatigue and life prediction, and material characterization.
• Collaborate on AI-driven engineering workflows, surrogate modeling, design exploration, and automation using scripting (e.g., Python).
• Work with R&D and product teams to provide technical feedback, participate in technical workshops, and contribute to best practices and publications.

Requirements

Key required skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

• 5+ years of industry experience in semiconductor, advanced packaging, electronics systems, simulation software, or related engineering fields.
• Hands-on experience supporting engineering teams in semiconductor manufacturing, OSAT, IC design, HPC, AI server, or system development environments.
• Customer-facing experience in technical consulting, application engineering, or solution deployment.
• Experience with multi-physics simulation areas such as FEA, structural mechanics, thermal management, vibration/dynamics, and reliability engineering.
• Practical experience with scripting/programming for workflow automation (Python) and working in Linux/HPC/cloud engineering environments.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with Synopsys, Ansys, Abaqus, Siemens, Cadence or equivalent platforms; AI/ML for engineering, GPU/server design, model-based systems engineering, or digital twin initiatives.

Education Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related engineering disciplines.
