SynopsysJob Title
Applications Engineering, Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Customer-facing applications engineering role supporting semiconductor, package, and PCB design teams in Korea. The engineer translates customer problems into electromagnetic simulation workflows, delivers demos and training, and provides post-sales technical support.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting requests approximately 3β5 years of hands-on experience in signal integrity, power integrity, or EMC; role title indicates a senior/staff-level position.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include direct technical engagement, training, and support to customers and collaboration with internal teams.
- Engage with customers on chip, package, and PCB designs to diagnose signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC issues and recommend simulation approaches.
- Build and deliver live technical demonstrations and tailored simulation workflows using ANSYS HFSS, SIwave, and Q3D.
- Provide post-sales technical support: model setup, troubleshoot convergence, and interpret results to inform design decisions.
- Train customer engineering teams from new users to advanced users on simulation products and workflows.
- Collaborate with product development to communicate customer requirements, test beta releases, and provide feedback for product roadmaps.
- Support sales with technical evaluations, competitive benchmarks, and proof-of-concept projects.
- Travel up to 50% across Korea and occasionally the region for on-site customer support, training, and project milestones.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed where noted.
- 3β5 years of hands-on experience in signal integrity, power integrity, or EMC in design, test, or product development environments.
- Expert-level practical experience using ANSYS HFSS, SIwave, and Q3D to set up, run, and interpret complex 3D electromagnetic simulations.
- Fluency in written and spoken English for collaboration with global teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple customer projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for simulation setups and customer workflows.
- Customer-facing experience (applications engineering, field engineering, or technical consulting) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with other ECAE/ECAD tools or direct semiconductor industry experience is beneficial.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering with focus on electromagnetics, signal integrity, power integrity, or related fields (as stated in the posting).
