Role Summary
As a Sr. Staff Applications Engineer for Mask Synthesis you will be the primary technical contact for customers using Proteus OPC & ILT and RET tools. You will provide technical leadership across pre-sales and post-sales activities, drive product acceptance, and coordinate with product engineering, R&D, and sales teams.
The role involves customer-facing support, benchmarking, training, onsite evaluations, and collaboration with internal R&D and product teams to improve lithography and mask-synthesis workflows.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical customer support, validation, and enabling product adoption.
- Serve as primary technical contact for customers using Proteus OPC, ILT, RET and lithography simulation tools.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support: product demos, benchmarking, testing, and onsite evaluations.
- Create examples, test cases, and documentation to demonstrate tool capabilities and workflow integration.
- Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with product engineering, R&D (Europe/US), sales, and field engineers to drive product development and adoption.
- Perform verification, process margin validation, and focus & dose analysis for optical, immersion, EUV, and e-beam lithography applications.
- Support mask synthesis efforts related to lithography proximity correction and provide subject-matter expertise to cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical and professional skills.
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux environments.
- Scripting and automation skills (Tcl, Python, Perl) and general programming ability.
- Strong verbal and written English communication and organizational skills for customer-facing work.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and manage customer projects proactively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and capacity to learn new technical topics in lithography and mask synthesis.
- Customer-facing support experience including technical training, benchmarking, and onsite evaluation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with MATLAB or advanced TCL; familiarity with lithography mask synthesis (OPC, RET, LRC), lithography simulation, photolithography theory, EMF/resist modeling, and 3+ years in advanced patterning or mask fabrication.
Education Requirements
Advanced degree required: Master’s or PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering.
