Applications Engineering, Sr Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineering role focused on emulation and prototyping for Synopsys hardware-assisted verification products (ZeBu family). Work closely with R&D, customers, Marketing, and Sales to develop, validate, and deploy solutions across domains such as HPC, AI, storage, networking, and automotive.

Drive the technology lifecycle from development through product sign-off and customer deployment, and define test strategies to improve usability, quality, and tool interoperability.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with R&D and customers on hardware-assisted verification products.
• Drive all aspects of the technology lifecycle: development, product sign-off, and customer deployment.
• Define and implement test strategies and methodologies to improve ease-of-use, quality of results, and interoperability with other tools.
• Develop expertise in emulation and prototyping methodologies and flows, including design partitioning, synthesis, testing, and simulation-based verification.
• Demonstrate solutions and provide technical consultation to customers, Sales, and Marketing.
• Follow product release processes and adapt recognized best practices to ensure successful project execution.
• Support early-stage enablement for ZeBu products across varied customer designs and verticals.

Requirements

Qualifications — must-have skills are listed first; preferred items follow.

• Must-have: Expertise in emulation and/or prototyping flows, systems, and methodologies.
• Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL and C/C++.
• Must-have: Understanding of verification concepts and experience with functional simulators.
• Must-have: Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Tcl.
• Must-have: Strong debugging and complex problem-solving skills.
• Must-have: Strong communication skills and ability to interact with customers and peers.
• Preferred: Knowledge of synthesis and timing analysis concepts.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Synopsys tools (ZeBu, HAPS, VCS, Verdi, Proto Compiler, Synplify, DC, Formality).
• Preferred: Experience with Xilinx & Altera architectures and toolchains.
• Preferred: Protocol experience (PCIe, USB, Ethernet, DRAMs, HBM, NAND Flash) and familiarity with CPU architecture/OS.
• Preferred: Understanding of SW/HW debug methodologies, standard SW/HW debug tools, and DFT solutions.

Education Requirements
