Role Summary

Work on Synopsys' IC Validator (physical verification) platform and backend physical design flows to improve design efficiency and enable delivery of high-performance silicon and software content. The role involves technical hands-on work, automation through scripting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Part of the applications engineering team focused on physical verification (PV) and backend design support for advanced process nodes, low-power methodologies, and CPU/GPU design flows.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8–10+ years of hands-on IC design and physical verification/backend physical design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on tool work, automation, and stakeholder collaboration to support PV and backend design.

• Develop and validate flows on IC Validator and related physical verification tools.
• Work with backend physical design tools such as Fusion Compiler and ICCII as required.
• Create and maintain scripts and automation to streamline verification and design processes.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external customers to resolve design issues and improve workflows.
• Apply knowledge of advanced process nodes, physical design, and low-power methodologies to practical design problems.
• Present findings and technical recommendations to stakeholders and contribute to product improvements.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required; separated into must-have and nice-to-have.

Must-have:

• 8–10+ years of direct hands-on IC design experience, with demonstrated work in physical verification and backend physical design.
• Proven proficiency using IC Validator (ICV) and related PV tool workflows.
• Strong scripting and automation skills; experience with scripting languages such as Perl and TCL.
• Familiarity with advanced process nodes and low-power design methodologies.
• Business-level English and presentation skills for effective stakeholder communication.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Fusion Compiler, ICCII, PXL and runset coding knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with other physical verification or EDA tools beyond ICV.
• Experience specifically with CPU/GPU design flows.
