Applications Engineering, Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Provide hands-on technical support and consulting to customers using Synopsys verification and debug tools (primarily VCS and Verdi). Work with verification teams across Korea to optimize regression efficiency, resolve simulation performance and debug issues, and promote best practices for UVM and low-power verification.
Main mission: reduce customer debug time and enable successful tapeouts by delivering practical, scalable verification solutions and tooling guidance.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5–10 years of hands-on ASIC/SoC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support and consultation for VCS simulator and Verdi debug platform, resolving setup, configuration, and performance issues.
- Work directly with customer verification teams to optimize workflows, improve regression efficiency, and troubleshoot testbenches and UVM environments.
- Advise customers on SystemVerilog, UVM, and UPF-based low-power verification methodology tailored to their designs.
- Develop scripts, automation flows, reference examples, and technical documentation to support tool adoption and scaling.
- Debug complex simulation and verification problems using waveforms, logs, and testbench analysis to identify root cause and propose solutions.
- Collaborate with internal R&D, field engineering, and product teams to escalate technical issues and provide actionable customer feedback.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 5–10 years of hands-on ASIC/SoC verification experience with production testbenches and regression flows.
- Strong proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, and UVM methodology from practical implementation and debugging experience.
- Hands-on experience with UPF and low-power verification, including power-aware simulation and debug.
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex simulation issues and isolate root causes in large verification environments.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in both Korean and English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with VCS, Verdi, or other industry-standard simulation and debug tools.
- Scripting skills (Python, Tcl, shell) for automation and flow development.
