Job Title

Applications Engineering, Principal Engineer

Role Summary

Customer-facing technical engineer responsible for deploying, debugging, and supporting hardware emulation and prototyping solutions for ASIC and SoC verification. Work directly with customer design teams to get emulation systems operational and to resolve verification bottlenecks.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects approximately 8+ years of hands-on experience in emulation or prototyping on ASIC/SoC verification projects.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include on-site and remote technical deployment, debugging, and customer enablement for emulation platforms.

  • Deploy and evaluate Synopsys ZeBu and similar emulation solutions at customer sites.
  • Debug complex issues spanning emulation hardware (ZeBu, Palladium, Veloce), compile flows, hardware mapping, and the design itself.
  • Provide pre-sales technical evaluations and post-sales support to integrate emulation into customer verification strategies.
  • Advise customers on tradeoffs between virtual prototyping and FPGA-based platforms and recommend appropriate approaches.
  • Produce technical collateral: application notes, reference flows, and best-practice guides.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and R&D to translate customer needs into product feedback.
  • Manage multiple concurrent customer engagements; prioritize and coordinate debug efforts across teams and time zones.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role effectively.

  • 8+ years of hands-on emulation or prototyping experience on real ASIC/SoC verification projects (must-have).
  • Direct experience deploying, debugging, and supporting hardware emulation platforms such as ZeBu, Palladium, or Veloce (must-have).
  • Strong debugging skills with the ability to trace issues across design, emulation compile flows, and hardware mapping (must-have).
  • Experience with virtual prototyping solutions and physical FPGA-based platforms or development kits (must-have).
  • Proficiency reading and debugging HDLs (Verilog, VHDL) and HVLs (SystemVerilog) and complex testbenches (must-have).
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer service mindset; ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences (must-have).
  • Proven ability to work in team environments and manage multiple tasks and escalations simultaneously (must-have).

Education Requirements

Not specified.
