Applications Engineering Intern - Wireless IoT
Role Summary
Hands-on internship on the Hungary Applications Engineering team supporting wireless IoT products. Work on embedded software, test automation, RF measurements, and basic hardware tasks to help integrate and validate wireless systems.
This role contributes to real engineering projects alongside experienced Applications Engineers and is designed to fit university study schedules.
Experience Level
Entry-level intern (student). Suitable for current university students; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Typical duties include:
- Develop and modify embedded applications for wireless/IoT devices.
- Write Python tools and scripts for automated testing and measurements.
- Set up, test, and experiment with wireless systems and IoT devices.
- Help develop hardware and software tools for device integration and debugging.
- Perform measurements, collect and analyze results using test equipment.
- Collaborate with Applications Engineers to solve hardware, software, and wireless engineering problems.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- Interest in IoT, embedded systems, and wireless technologies.
- Some programming experience in C and Python (coursework, projects, or prior work).
- Practical, hands-on approach to debugging and experimentation.
- Willingness to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice-to-have (not required):
- Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) or GNU Radio.
- Familiarity with RF and wireless communication fundamentals.
- Knowledge of wireless protocols and IoT stacks.
- Basic electronics and schematic/PCB design experience.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a university-level technical program (e.g., Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications or similar). Internship compatible with ongoing university studies; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
