Applications Engineering Consultant — FPGA Prototyping
Role Summary
Provide hands-on technical selling, deployment, and customer support for Siemens FPGA prototyping hardware and software to customers in the Americas. Work with sales, account teams, and product teams to drive evaluations, deployments, training, and long-term customer success.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant experience in design, verification, simulation, emulation or prototyping of electronic chips and systems or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on technical customer engagement, solution deployment, and feedback to product teams.
- Support sales during technical evaluations and ensure technical milestones are met.
- Deploy and configure Siemens FPGA prototyping software and hardware for customers on-site and remotely.
- Troubleshoot customer issues, debug RTL designs, and remove technical obstacles to deployments.
- Deliver technical presentations, demos, and training to customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with account teams and product marketing to map customer requirements to Siemens solutions.
- Collect and relay customer feedback and product ideas to development teams.
- Build peer-level technical relationships with customer engineers and stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- RTL design experience with SystemVerilog, Verilog or VHDL and FPGA/ASIC implementation (synthesis, place & route).
- Verification and simulation experience (SystemVerilog, SystemC, C/C++); RTL debug and simulation workflows.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Perl, shell scripts, Makefiles) and familiarity with XML/JSON.
- Hands-on industry FPGA tool experience (proFPGA, HAPS, Xilinx Vivado, Intel/Altera Quartus) is required.
- Experience with simulation tools (Questa/Incisive/VCS), UVM/OVM, emulation and static timing analysis is a plus.
- Ability to extend or integrate tools via scripting or APIs and to articulate cross-platform solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; proven ability to build customer relationships and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Willingness to travel across North America as required (~10%).
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
