Job Title

Applications Engineering, Architect - FPGA

Role Summary

Lead pre-sales and post-sales technical engagements for Synopsys emulation and FPGA prototyping platforms, designing prototype architectures and solutions that address RTL-to-hardware challenges. Work directly with customers and the sales team to shorten evaluation cycles, deliver proofs-of-concept, and drive adoption of AI-assisted verification workflows.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 15+ years of hands-on experience in emulation, FPGA-based prototyping, ASIC design, or SoC validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecting solutions, running technical evaluations, and representing Synopsys technical capabilities to customers.

  • Architect pre-sales and post-sale technical solutions for emulation (ZS5, ZeBu-200) and HAPS FPGA prototyping platforms.
  • Present tailored solutions addressing partitioning, performance, debug, and integration with customers' RTL and validation flows.
  • Design and execute technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and benchmarks that demonstrate real customer value.
  • Create and deploy AI agents/skills for hardware-assisted verification platforms to accelerate customer adoption.
  • Collaborate with sales to qualify technical fit, handle objections, and progress opportunities.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and architecture reviews to engineering and executive stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain trusted-advisor relationships with customer architects and engineering leaders.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required for success. Must-haves are listed first; nice-to-haves follow.

  • Must-have: 15+ years hands-on experience in emulation, FPGA-based prototyping, ASIC design, or SoC validation with deep understanding of RTL-to-hardware workflows.
  • Must-have: Strong command of FPGA architectures (Xilinx, Intel, or equivalent), RTL design in Verilog or VHDL, synthesis flows, and hardware bring-up and debug.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to design prototype partitioning and debug strategies that scale and reduce bring-up time.
  • Must-have: Comfortable traveling to customer sites for evaluations, presentations, and technical engagements.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with ZS5, ZeBu-200, HAPS platforms, ProtoCompiler, or similar FPGA prototyping tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience creating customer-facing AI/automation solutions for verification workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong presentation skills and experience leading technical POCs with engineering and executive audiences.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
