Role Summary

Work with MPS motor driver products in the applications engineering group to define, characterize, and validate motor control application solutions for automotive and industrial markets.

The role involves hands-on prototype development, testing, and supporting lab automation and motor testbench activities.

Experience Level

Entry-level - Internship. Suitable for students or recent graduates; no specific years of experience specified.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Develop application solutions for automotive and industrial motor-control markets.
• Identify and implement circuit application improvements; produce designs and supporting collateral.
• Perform PCB layout for prototypes and build prototype boards.
• Evaluate and characterize prototype solutions.
• Conduct automotive EMC testing (immunity, conducted and radiated emissions).
• Analyze and validate motor driver thermal performance.
• Contribute to development of a motor testbench and support lab automation.
• Model motor control loops (BDC, BLDC/PMSM, block commutation, FOC).
• Develop or port motor control algorithms for MCU and FPGA platforms.

Requirements

Key skills and attributes expected:

• Must-have: Basic understanding of motor control principles and power electronics; hands-on experience with prototype assembly and lab measurements; familiarity with MCU or FPGA development (embedded C/C++ or HDL) and PCB layout tools; ability to work in a lab environment and follow test procedures.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with EMC testing, thermal analysis, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent modeling tools, and prior exposure to motor testbenches or lab automation.
• Good communication skills and ability to document results and work in a multidisciplinary team.
