Applications Engineer, FPGA Prototyping

Role Summary

Provide technical sales and deployment support for Siemens FPGA prototyping hardware and software across the Americas. Work with account teams and customers to drive product evaluations, deploy solutions, remove technical obstacles, and increase customer productivity and satisfaction.

This is a customer-facing hybrid role that supports sales engagements, on-site deployments, trainings and demos; travel across North America is required (~10%).

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects 5+ years of relevant experience in design, verification, simulation, emulation/prototyping of electronic chips and systems or comparable Applications Engineer experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include supporting sales through technical leadership, deploying FPGA prototyping solutions, and maintaining customer relationships.

  • Support sales activities with hands-on technical expertise during product evaluations and customer engagements.
  • Deploy and configure Siemens FPGA prototyping hardware and software for customer projects.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and remove obstacles to achieve milestones.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, demos, and customer trainings.
  • Collaborate with sales management, account teams, product marketing and product development to communicate customer requirements and feedback.
  • Build peer-level technical relationships with customers to ensure long-term satisfaction.
  • Travel within North America as required (~10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and professional capabilities.

  • Proven RTL design experience with SystemVerilog, Verilog and VHDL.
  • ASIC and/or FPGA implementation experience (synthesis, place & route).
  • Industry experience with FPGA design and FPGA tools (examples: Xilinx Vivado, Intel/Altera Quartus, proFPGA, HAPS).
  • Verification and debug experience with SystemVerilog, SystemC and/or C/C++ and experience with simulation environments (Questa/Incisive/VCS) and methodologies (OVM/UVM).
  • Proficient in scripting languages and automation (Perl, Python, shell scripting, Makefiles, XML/JSON).
  • Ability to deliver trainings and demos; strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing work.
  • Position is subject to U.S. export control (ITAR/EAR); employment contingent on U.S. Person status or obtaining required export authorization.
  • Willingness to travel to support business engagements (~10%).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with emulation workflows and static timing analysis.
  • Familiarity with additional FPGA prototyping platforms and verification tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field (BS or MS in EE, CE, CS or related areas).
