Job Title

Applications Development Engineer

Role Summary

Provide technical application support for broadband plasma optical inspection systems, driving product adoption at customer sites during beta, ramp, and production phases. Work with engineering, product, marketing, and sales to characterize tool and algorithm performance and translate customer requirements into solutions.

Primary responsibilities include customer-facing demonstrations, test plan execution, problem diagnosis, training, and documentation for field teams and customers.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career. Master's degree: 0 years related experience; Bachelor's degree: typically requires ~2 years related experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide product demonstrations and assess customer applications to meet needs.
  • Support customers during beta tests, head-to-head evaluations, and ramp-to-production activities.
  • Develop and execute test plans and perform detailed tool/algorithm characterization; report findings to engineering for product improvement.
  • Diagnose and resolve routine to moderately complex product issues at customer sites.
  • Train customers and Field Applications Engineers, including on-site training.
  • Create and maintain documentation: Best Known Methods (BKMs), demo reports, alpha/beta test reports, and training materials.
  • Prepare clear technical presentations and reports for internal and customer review.

Requirements

Required competencies and conditions:

  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects with high accountability, and operate effectively in a fast-paced semiconductor environment.
  • Strong team player comfortable collaborating across engineering, sales, and marketing groups.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (greater than 70%).

Education Requirements

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field. Minimum qualifications specified: Master's degree (0 years related experience) or Bachelor's degree (approximately 2 years related experience).
