Application Specific Integrated Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical development of custom ASICs from architecture through silicon bring-up for advanced computing and control platforms. This role is a technical leadership position working across hardware, software, systems, and external partners to deliver production-ready silicon.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 10+ years of relevant hardware and ASIC design experience.
Responsibilities
Own end-to-end ASIC development and guide engineering decisions addressing performance, power, area, cost, and manufacturability.
- Define and establish ASIC development methodologies for architecture, RTL, verification, implementation, and tape-out.
- Lead microarchitecture, RTL development, integration, validation, and silicon bring-up activities.
- Coordinate with external design, fabrication, and manufacturing partners.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to translate requirements into silicon solutions.
- Drive trade-off decisions across performance, power, area, cost, and schedule.
- Manage subsystem roadmaps and delivery schedules for commercial and advanced technology programs.
- Support FPGA-based development and migration from FPGA prototypes to production ASICs.
- Mentor and grow a small ASIC engineering team through technical leadership.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 10+ years of hardware design experience, with multiple full ASIC development cycles including tape-out and silicon validation.
- Proven experience transitioning FPGA designs into ASIC implementations.
- Strong RTL design expertise, ideally in SystemVerilog.
- Experience implementing complex DSP functions in hardware.
- Familiarity with ASIC development flows, semiconductor process technologies, fabrication partners, and EDA toolchains.
- Practical experience with industry-standard tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA.
- Good understanding of FPGA architectures, microprocessors, and digital system design.
- Mixed-signal design experience is highly desirable.
Education Requirements
