Job Title
Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical role to define and execute ASIC strategy from architecture through silicon bring-up for advanced hardware platforms. Work across hardware, software, systems, and external partners to translate complex requirements into production-ready custom silicon and to shape the long-term silicon roadmap.
Hands-on technical leadership including ownership of RTL, verification, implementation, tape-out, and mentoring of a small ASIC engineering team.
Experience Level
Senior-level. 10+ years of hardware design experience with proven delivery of multiple full ASIC development cycles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Establish and maintain ASIC development methodologies across architecture, RTL, verification, implementation, and tape-out.
- Lead end-to-end ASIC development: microarchitecture, RTL development, integration, validation, and silicon bring-up.
- Coordinate with external design, fabrication, and manufacturing partners to ensure successful project execution.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and cross-functional teams to deliver optimized silicon solutions.
- Drive technical trade-offs across performance, power, area, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Manage subsystem roadmaps and delivery schedules for commercial and advanced technology programs.
- Support FPGA-based development and migration from FPGA prototypes to production ASICs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior ASIC engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years of hardware design experience with multiple ASIC tape-outs and silicon validation.
- Proven experience transitioning FPGA designs into ASIC implementations.
- Strong RTL design skills, preferably using SystemVerilog.
- Experience implementing complex DSP functions in hardware.
- Familiarity with ASIC development flows, semiconductor process technologies, and manufacturing partners.
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA).
- Strong understanding of FPGA architectures, microprocessors, and digital system design.
- Experience managing external collaborations with foundries and vendors.
- Mixed-signal design experience is highly desirable.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is specified. The posting does not state an explicit option for equivalent practical experience.
