Job Title

Application Solutions - Semiconductor Process and Device Simulations (TCAD)

Role Summary

Join the Calibre R&D team to develop and validate physics-based process and device simulation tools used in semiconductor manufacturing and DTCO. Work with customers and internal teams to produce high-fidelity models and high-throughput numerical simulations for advanced logic, memory, sensors, and 3D packaging technologies.

Experience Level

Mid-level: role expects substantial research or industry experience, typically 5+ years of relevant work in semiconductor process/device simulation or related areas.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include collaboration with customers and R&D peers, model development, and project delivery.

  • Develop and derive simplified, physics-based models to solve real-world process and device problems.
  • Implement and validate simulation modules for semiconductor unit processes and device behavior.
  • Validate models against metrology (optical scatterometry, ellipsometry, SEM/eBeam) and experimental data.
  • Estimate task complexity and timelines; plan and deliver work on schedule.
  • Document results, present findings to customers and internal teams, and support DTCO studies for advanced nodes and 3D integration.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate models into the Calibre toolset and support customer deployments.

Requirements

Key technical skills and attributes required for successful performance.

  • Must-have: Experience building physics-based models for semiconductor processes and device physics; hands-on experience with unit process modules such as plasma dry etch, wet etch/clean, CVD/PVD/ALD, CMP, epitaxy, ion implantation, and annealing.
  • Must-have: Experience with semiconductor metrology (optical scatterometry/ellipsometry or SEM/eBeam) and model validation against measurements.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving, task estimation, project delivery, and communication skills; collaborative team mindset.
  • Must-have: Experience with numerical simulation, model implementation, and debugging in research or product environments.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to DTCO, EDA/Calibre tools, high-volume manufacturing workflows, or advanced-node process/device studies (e.g., advanced logic, 3D NAND, 3DIC).

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related engineering field (Materials Science, Mechanical, etc.), or an MS plus 5+ years of relevant research/industry experience. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
