Job Title

Application Solutions Engineer - Semiconductor Process & Device Simulations (TCAD)

Role Summary

Work on the Calibre™ R&D team to develop and validate physics-based models and high-throughput numerical simulations for semiconductor manufacturing and device analysis.

The role focuses on process and device simulations across advanced technology nodes and product families (logic, DRAM, 3D NAND, CIS, 3DIC), collaborating with internal teams and customers to deliver simulation tools and diagnostics.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typical candidate: PhD in a relevant field or MS plus 5+ years of research/industry experience (rough guidance: ~5+ years of relevant experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include modeling, simulation, validation, and customer collaboration.

  • Develop and implement physics-based models for semiconductor processes and devices.
  • Build and optimize numerical simulation workflows for high-throughput analysis.
  • Validate models against metrology and device data; perform diagnostics and model tuning.
  • Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Estimate task complexity and timelines; manage deliverables to schedule.
  • Contribute to product integration and support for advanced nodes and packaging technologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes; education details are summarized separately below.

  • Demonstrated experience building intuitive, physics-based models for real-world semiconductor problems.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication processes and unit modules (etch, deposition, CMP, implantation, annealing, epitaxy, etc.).
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and multi-physics issues (carrier transport, reliability mechanisms).
  • Experience with semiconductor metrology methods (optical scatterometry, ellipsometry, SEM/eBeam).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to scope tasks, and meet delivery schedules.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with DTCO, Calibre/EDA tools, or high-volume manufacturing use cases.

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related engineering (Materials, Mechanical, etc.); alternatively MS plus 5+ years of relevant research or industry experience. No specific certifications were listed.
