Application Engineering Staff Engineer - Runset Development

Role Summary

The Application Engineering Staff Engineer will be responsible for developing and validating runsets for Physical Verification (PV) using the Synopsys IC Validator tool. The role includes collaborating with foundries and internal teams to ensure high-quality deliverables in semiconductor technologies.

Experience Level

Mid-level: 5-8 years of industry experience in Physical Verification.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

• Developing and validating DRC, LVS, and Fill runsets for Synopsys IC Validator.
• Collaborating with foundries to understand process requirements.
• Automating qualification processes using scripting languages like Perl, Tcl, and Python.
• Troubleshooting layout verification issues, including LVS discrepancies and DRC violations.
• Interfacing with customers and FAEs for technical support and requirements gathering.
• Mentoring junior team members and fostering a knowledge-sharing culture.
• Keeping updated with EDA tool advancements and foundry process innovations.

Requirements

The following skills and experience are required:

• B.Tech, M.Tech, or MS in Electronics, VLSI, or a related field.
• 8-10 years of hands-on experience in the Physical Verification domain.
• Advanced proficiency with EDA tools, particularly IC Validator, Calibre, and Pegasus.
• Strong scripting skills in Perl, Tcl, and Python.
• Deep understanding of CMOS layout and ASIC design flows.
• Experience in writing DRC, LVS, and DFM rule decks.
• Exposure to competitive EDA tools.

Education Requirements

B.Tech, M.Tech, or MS in Electronics, VLSI, or a related field.
