Application Engineering Engineer

Role Summary

Provide technical support and applications engineering for Synopsys EDA design and verification tools to customers in Ho Chi Minh City and the broader Southeast Asia region. Work with R&D, regional application engineers, and customers to troubleshoot verification flows, validate tool migrations, and enable successful tool adoption.

The role focuses on diagnosing complex verification issues, owning customer interactions through resolution, and documenting solutions to improve team knowledge and product quality.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years required; position expects practical experience with design and verification tools or prior application-engineering/verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer-facing technical support, tool validation, and cross-team collaboration.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for verification and design tools (e.g., VCS, Verdi, Spyglass, Certitude, Z01X).
• Own tool migrations and validation across releases to prevent workflow breakage for customers.
• Collaborate with application engineers, R&D, and customers to escalate and resolve complex issues.
• Track issues, follow up with customers, and maintain strong customer relationships through the support lifecycle.
• Document technical issues, solutions, and best practices to grow the team knowledge base.
• Learn and apply new tool features and emerging capabilities, including AI-related functionality.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills for successful performance in the role.

Must-have:

• Working knowledge of Verilog and basic understanding of design and verification methodologies.
• Practical troubleshooting skills and experience working with customer flows or in application engineering.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to work across functions and time zones.
• Organized problem management: prioritize multiple customer issues and follow through to resolution.
• Willingness to learn new tools, features, and emerging technologies.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with SystemVerilog, UVM, VHDL, UPF.
• Exposure to verification IPs/protocols (e.g., AMBA VIP) and static/dynamic verification concepts.
• Prior experience with Synopsys verification tool suite or similar EDA toolchains.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
