Application Engineer - Physical Design (Back-End)
Role Summary
The Application Engineer will provide expert-level pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers on physical (back-end) digital implementation flows. The role focuses on floorplanning, place & route, clock-tree synthesis, and static timing analysis for advanced semiconductor designs.
Work closely with customers and internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues, demonstrate capabilities, and improve adoption of physical-design solutions.
Experience Level
Senior level. Requires 7+ years of hands-on experience in back-end physical design and digital implementation.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and guidance to customers and internal stakeholders. Typical responsibilities include:
- Deliver pre-sales demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical evaluations for physical-design flows.
- Provide post-sales customer support, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization for floorplanning, place & route, clock-tree, and STA issues.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to reproduce issues and drive product improvements.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, training sessions, and technical documentation to customers.
- Collect customer feedback and relay requirements to product management and R&D teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 7+ years experience in physical-design (back-end) digital implementation: floorplanning, place & route, clock tree, and STA.
- Experience in the microelectronics / EDA industry.
- Strong presentation and verbal/written communication skills; high level of English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with synthesis, formal verification, and DFT.
Education Requirements
BSc, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering from a leading institute. (Degrees explicitly listed; no alternate "equivalent experience" language provided.)
