Application Engineer Manager
Role Summary
Lead and grow a Field Application Engineering (Field AE) team focused on Hardware Assisted Verification (HAV) products. Drive technical sales engagement, customer evaluations, and cross-functional input to influence product roadmap and account strategy.
This role requires strong technical credibility in emulation, prototyping, DFT and low‑power verification, frequent customer interaction, and collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and R&D.
Experience Level
Senior-level — leadership role with responsibility for a technical sales engineering team; typical background includes 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership, business planning, cross-functional coordination, and people management for the Field AE organization.
- Lead Field AE execution for assigned product portfolio and ensure successful technical evaluations.
- Advise customers on emulation, emulation offload/acceleration, FPGA prototyping, DFT, and power‑aware verification; define success criteria for engagements.
- Present technical value and business impact (ROI, TTM, productivity) to customers and executives.
- Partner with Sales and Account Directors on opportunity planning and multi‑year account strategy.
- Collect and relay customer requirements and competitive feedback to Marketing and R&D to influence product direction.
- Coordinate with Product Engineering, R&D, Support, and Services to resolve customer issues and prioritize resources.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance, and retention of Field AEs; foster technical excellence and teamwork.
- Support global account alignment and regional prioritization of Field AE resources.
- Travel as required for customer engagements (up to 50%).
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications for success in this role.
- Proven leadership of technical sales or Field AE organizations; experience managing, coaching, and developing technical teams.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in hardware emulation and emulation offload/acceleration.
- Strong experience with FPGA prototyping for SoC/ASIC workflows.
- Practical knowledge of DFT methodologies (scan, ATPG, MBIST/LBIST, compression).
- Expertise in power/low‑power verification and related debugging (UPF/1801, isolation/retention techniques).
- Ability to translate technical capabilities into business outcomes and influence product roadmaps.
- Experience in multi‑year planning, resource modeling, and account-level strategy.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer engagements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred (BS in Engineering/Computer Science). Employer accepts equivalent practical experience; role description references 10+ years of relevant experience as typical.
