Job Title

Application Engineer II: Analog IC Design and Simulation

Role Summary

Work on the Global Customer Success (GCS) team in Belo Horizonte to support customers using Cadence analog design and simulation tools. The role focuses on debugging circuit behavior, improving analog design flows, and enabling customer productivity with Virtuoso, Spectre, SpectreRF, and AMS simulators.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role that combines technical support, documentation, automation, and collaboration with R&D and field teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 2–5 years of relevant experience in analog, mixed-signal, or RF design and simulation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer support, technical problem solving, and contribution to team knowledge.

  • Support customers in using Virtuoso for schematic capture and layout and in debugging circuit behavior with Spectre, SpectreRF, and AMS simulators.
  • Analyze simulation results for DC, transient, AC, and noise; troubleshoot convergence and behavioral issues.
  • Apply and promote best practices in analog design flows, including schematic-driven layout and layout-dependent effects.
  • Collaborate with other Application Engineers, R&D, and field teams to reproduce issues and validate solutions.
  • Create technical documentation, examples, and knowledge articles to improve customer self-service and tool adoption.
  • Develop custom solutions and automation using scripting and tool capabilities when applicable.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share best practices for analog flow and simulation debugging.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional competencies.

  • Practical experience in analog, mixed-signal, or RF design and simulation (industry experience expected).
  • Strong understanding of analog electronics: circuits, CMOS device operation, feedback, noise, and mismatch.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit simulation and analysis and familiarity with EDA tools and Linux-based workflows.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with RF simulation techniques (HB, PSS, QPSS variants).
  • Exposure to analog verification methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Scripting experience (SKILL, Python, TCL).
  • Familiarity with custom design flows (layout, extraction, LVS, DRC) and advanced-node design projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
