Analog & RF IC Senior Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for creating DRC/LVS-clean layouts for critical analog/RF custom IP blocks and supporting circuit design teams through floorplanning, power/ground architecture, device matching, and tape-out on advanced process nodes. Collaborates with designers and verification teams to integrate IP into top-level silicon.

Opportunity to work on advanced FinFET nodes impacting wireless, wireline, and AI hardware.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 6–8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Translate circuit schematics into DRC/LVS-clean layouts for custom analog and RF IP blocks.
• Develop floorplans and define power and ground architecture in collaboration with circuit designers.
• Implement precision device matching and routing for high-frequency and high-speed circuits.
• Produce tape-out–ready layouts using industry-standard EDA flows and verification tools.
• Participate in schedule assessments, top-level integration and layout sign-off.
• Collaborate with verification, foundry, and design teams to resolve manufacturability and parasitic issues.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Extensive experience laying out high-speed custom analog and mixed-signal circuits (examples: TX, RX, SerDes, PLLs).
• Proven layout experience on advanced FinFET process nodes.
• Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso layout flows, including Virtuoso VXL.
• Experience using Mentor Calibre for DRC and LVS verification.
• Strong understanding of matching, parasitics, and layout-dependent effects.
• Demonstrated ability to own full-cycle layout tasks from floorplanning through tape-out and sign-off.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 8+ years of related experience, OR Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 6+ years of related experience. (Source specifies preferred degree-and-experience combinations.)
