Job Title
Analog Mixed-Signal IC Designer
Role Summary
Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits for Apple's system-on-chip products. Join the Silicon Engineering team to deliver AMS building blocks used in high-speed serial links and other SoC functions, from feasibility and simulation through layout support and lab characterization.
Experience Level
Mid-level engineer; typically expects at least 3 years of relevant analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect, design and simulate analog/mixed-signal blocks (bandgap, bias circuits, LDOs, amplifiers, comparators, ADCs/DACs, PLLs, oscillators, filters).
- Design and validate circuits for high-speed serial links and related interfaces.
- Perform feasibility studies, pre- and post-layout simulations, corner and margin analysis.
- Collaborate with layout engineers to ensure manufacturable implementations and perform post-layout verification.
- Support silicon bring-up, debug silicon issues, participate in lab characterization and production testing.
- Coordinate with SoC integration teams to meet system-level constraints and specifications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted.
-
Must-have: Proven analog/mixed-signal IC design experience, including mismatch mitigation, linearity, stability, low-power and low-noise techniques.
-
Must-have: Experience designing and simulating the listed circuit blocks and performing circuit-level verification.
-
Must-have: Experience with advanced CMOS processes and high-speed digital or serial link design.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with industry EDA tools for schematic capture, simulation (SPICE), and layout verification.
-
Must-have: Ability to debug silicon, work in lab testing, and drive designs through production.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior SoC or consumer product experience and familiarity with production test flows and mobile power/area optimization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with at least 3 years of related experience, or a PhD in a related field.
