Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Lead (PMIC)
Role Summary
The Design Lead will drive architecture, design, verification, and tape-out of power-management ICs (PMICs). This role leads a multidisciplinary team including analog, digital, layout, verification, and test engineers to deliver production-ready PMIC products on aggressive schedules.
Primary focus areas include system-level architecture, mixed-signal block implementation, full-chip integration, post-silicon debug, and cross-functional trade-off resolution between power, area, and performance.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10+ years of relevant IC design experience with a track record of shipping PMIC products to high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for the role:
- Lead end-to-end PMIC development lifecycle: research, architecture, detailed design, simulation, verification, and tape-out.
- Define system-level architectures and write specifications for analog/mixed-signal blocks such as LDOs, buck/boost converters, and battery management subsystems.
- Oversee full-chip integration and top-level simulations; establish and drive verification strategies across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
- Coordinate with Digital Design, Verification, Layout, and Test teams to resolve trade-offs among power, area, performance, and cost.
- Lead post-silicon validation, bench characterization, bench-to-silicon correlation, and root-cause analysis during bring-up and debug.
- Mentor and manage technical contributors, set design reviews and quality gates, and ensure schedule delivery.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience with multiple PMIC products delivered to production.
- Deep expertise in analog/mixed-signal building blocks: bandgaps, op-amps, high-efficiency switching regulators, ADCs/DACs, and power-management subsystems.
- Proficiency with EDA tools and simulators such as Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre.
- Experience with behavioral and mixed-signal modeling languages (Verilog-AMS, SystemVerilog).
- Good understanding of BCD process technologies and semiconductor device physics.
- Design practices for EMI/EMC and ESD protection; strong silicon debug and characterization experience.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional engineering teams and in driving design to manufacturing readiness.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with digital control architectures and common communication protocols used in power-management systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with focus on power electronics or microelectronics.
