Job Title

Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Member of the Mixed Signal Design team within Acacia, developing high-speed and high-accuracy analog/mixed-signal ICs for optical transceivers (100G–1.6T+). Work includes architecture, design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS products.

This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA with an on-site expectation of three days per week. You will collaborate with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams and with packaging/hardware engineers to meet signal and power integrity targets.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience per posting: Bachelor's + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

The role combines hands-on circuit design with leadership of large blocks and cross-discipline collaboration.

  • Architect, design, simulate, and layout high-speed analog/mixed-signal blocks for optical communications ASICs.
  • Perform lab characterization, validation and productization of ICs; define test setups and measurement plans.
  • Lead design efforts for complex blocks, mentor junior engineers, participate in peer reviews and track deliverables.
  • Collaborate with package and hardware teams to ensure signal/power integrity and manufacturability.
  • Develop and apply design methodology from conception through production, including corner analysis and robustness checks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience relevant to high-speed AMS IC design.

  • Experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (serdes, ADC/DAC), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock distribution, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
  • Strong analog/mixed-signal circuit design and simulation skills; familiarity with mixed-signal verification flows.
  • Hands-on experience with lab validation, constructing test setups and ESD-aware measurements.
  • Proven ability to lead a design block, mentor team members, and deliver to schedule with good documentation and peer review practices.
  • Tool experience preferred: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreX/APS, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulation flows and Matlab.

Preferred (nice-to-have): high-frequency layout and floorplanning, FinFET/GAA process experience, design-for-manufacturability analysis (PVT, EM, self-heating, IR drop), and transceiver/backplane/cable communications experience.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualification specified as: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master's plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years of related experience. (No specific fields of study or certifications were listed.)
