Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team developing high-speed, high-accuracy analog circuits for optical transceivers used in data center and carrier networks. The role covers architecture, schematic/design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep-submicron CMOS ICs.
The position is hybrid with on-site work at the San Jose, CA office three days per week and requires collaboration with digital/DSP, system, package and module design teams.
Experience Level
Senior β advanced individual contributor/lead. Hiring guidelines: Bachelor's degree + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities and typical tasks for the role include:
- Architect, design, simulate, and verify high-speed analog and mixed-signal blocks (including circuits for β₯25 Gb/s links).
- Perform layout and participate in layout reviews to meet high-frequency and manufacturability requirements.
- Lead a large block on a complex IC, track deliverables, and mentor junior engineers.
- Define and execute silicon bring-up, lab validation, and production characterization plans.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with digital/DSP, package, hardware and system teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
- Participate in peer design reviews and establish robust design methodology from concept through production.
Requirements
Core technical must-haves and useful additional skills.
Must-have:
- Proven experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs in at least three of these areas: high-speed serial links (serdes, data converters), high-performance output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock distribution/propagation, op-amps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
- Hands-on experience with high-frequency layout practices, power/ground planning, and routing for mixed-signal designs.
- Experience with laboratory validation and creation of test setups for silicon bring-up.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable) and transceiver system modeling.
- Experience with FinFET/GAA technologies and design-for-manufacturability analysis (PVT characterization, electromigration, self-heating, IR drop).
- Familiarity with ESD practices and advanced verification tools and flows.
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreX/APS, Calibre, EMX, mixed-signal (AMS) simulation, and Matlab.
Education Requirements
Minimum formal education specified: Bachelor's degree with 8 years related experience, Master's degree with 6 years related experience, or PhD with 3 years related experience. The posting does not specify fields of study or certifications.
