Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer β Acacia
Role Summary
Join Acacia's mixed-signal IC design team to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers (100Gβ1.6T+). The role requires close collaboration with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to meet system-level signal and power integrity requirements.
This is a hybrid role performed three days per week in the San Jose, CA office.
Experience Level
Senior β position expects substantial prior experience (see Education Requirements for the minimum combined degree/experience options).
Responsibilities
You will lead and deliver complex mixed-signal IC blocks from concept to production and collaborate across disciplines to meet product specifications.
- Architect, design, simulate, layout, characterize, and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal ICs.
- Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips; track deliverables and schedules.
- Mentor and review the work of other IC designers; participate in technical peer reviews.
- Work with packaging and hardware teams to ensure signal and power integrity specifications are met.
- Develop verification and characterization plans and participate in lab validation and debugging.
- Collaborate with digital/DSP, system, package and module design teams to integrate analog blocks into the ASIC/system.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; candidates should meet the minimum qualification (degree + years) listed under Education Requirements.
- Hands-on experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (serdes, data converters), modeling for system link simulations, high-performance output drivers, high-performance phase-locked loops, clock distribution/propagation, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
- Proven track record delivering high-speed AMS circuits for production products; strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to define and execute characterization and test plans; experience with lab measurements and validation.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (digital, DSP, package, system) to meet system-level requirements.
-
Nice-to-have: experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane/cable), FinFET/GAA process experience, high-frequency floorplanning and layout, design-for-manufacturability practices (PVT characterization, electromigration, IR drop, self-heating), ESD methodology, and familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, mixed-signal AMS simulation flows, and Matlab.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years. The posting does not specify required fields of study or certifications.
