Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer — Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Develop and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal ICs for Acacia optical transceivers (100G–1.6T+). Work across architecture, circuit design, layout, measurement and production qualification.
Collaborate with digital/DSP, system, packaging and module teams to meet signal and power integrity and system-level requirements.
Experience Level
Senior. The role expects substantial prior mixed-signal IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, full-cycle mixed-signal IC development, and cross-team integration.
- Lead design efforts for large, complex mixed-signal blocks and mentor team members.
- Architect, circuit-design, simulate, layout and verify high-speed analog ICs.
- Perform lab characterization, validation, and drive designs to production readiness.
- Conduct peer reviews and establish/maintain robust design methodology.
- Coordinate with packaging and hardware teams to ensure signal and power integrity specifications are met.
- Track deliverables, schedules and report technical status to program leads.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Design, simulation and measurement experience in high-speed ICs—experience in at least three of: high-speed serial links (serializers/deserializers, data converters), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock distribution, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
- High-frequency layout experience, including floorplanning, power/ground segregation, and routing of analog/digital signals.
- Laboratory validation experience, including ESD practices and building test setups.
- Proficiency with design and simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, AMS mixed-signal simulations, and MATLAB.
- Experience characterizing designs over PVT corners and performing DFM analyses (IR drop, electromigration, self-heating).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and collaborative communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
- Experience with FinFET and GAA process technologies.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications (as stated in the posting): Bachelor's degree + 8 years related experience, Master's degree + 6 years related experience, or PhD + 3 years related experience. The posting does not mandate a specific field of study.
