Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Acacia Mixed Signal Design team responsible for architecting, designing, laying out, measuring and productizing ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers (100Gβ1.6T+).
The role works within a small IC design group and collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to deliver production-quality mixed-signal ASIC blocks.
Experience Level
Senior. This position expects senior-level experience; see Education Requirements for the specific degree + years-of-experience combinations that satisfy the minimum qualification.
Responsibilities
Responsible for full lifecycle delivery of complex mixed-signal IC blocks and for technical leadership within the design team.
- Architect, design, simulate, lay out, and validate high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC blocks.
- Lead design efforts for large/complex blocks, drive schedules, and track deliverables to production.
- Perform peer reviews and establish robust design methodology from concept through tape-out and productization.
- Collaborate with packaging, board, and system engineers to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in cross-functional technical reviews.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for successful performance; degrees and exact experience-year combinations are listed under Education Requirements.
- Hands-on experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs with demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following areas: serializers/deserializers/data converters, high-performance output drivers, phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock transmission/propagation, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
- Practical experience with mixed-signal CAD and simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreX/APS, AMS mixed-signal simulation flows, and layout validation (Virtuoso, Calibre).
- High-frequency layout and floorplanning experience (power/ground, analog/digital partitioning, signal routing) and familiarity with passive components and transmission-line considerations.
- Ability to develop and run characterization and test plans; familiarity with lab measurement practices and constructing test setups.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
-
Nice-to-have: experience with FinFET/GAA processes, EM/IR/self-heating analysis, ESD methodology, EM extraction tools (EMX) and MATLAB scripting for data analysis.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience. The posting specifies these degree-plus-experience combinations as minimum requirements; fields of study are not specified. (Equivalent practical experience may be considered where permitted.)
