Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Mixed Signal Design team developing high-speed, high-accuracy analog and mixed-signal ICs for optical transceivers (100Gβ1.6T+). The role covers architecture, circuit design, layout, lab validation and productization for ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS chips.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation of three days per week on-site in San Jose, CA, collaborating with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver complex mixed-signal blocks from concept through production while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Architect, design, simulate, lay out, and characterize high-speed AMS circuits and large analog blocks.
- Lead design efforts for major blocks, track deliverables and mentor junior engineers.
- Perform peer reviews and establish robust design methodology and documentation.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Develop and execute lab validation plans, debug silicon, and support product bring-up.
- Ensure designs meet manufacturability and reliability targets through PVT, EM, self-heating and IR drop analysis.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills; list indicates priorities. Education degree requirements are summarized separately below.
- Proven experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (serdes, ADC/DAC), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
- Hands-on mixed-signal simulation and verification experience (Spectre/APS/SpectreX, AMS flow) and familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso and layout validation tools (Calibre).
- Experience with high-frequency layout including floorplanning, power/ground routing, analog/digital isolation, and passive component integration.
- Laboratory validation experience: test setup construction, measurement methodology, and ESD practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to drive complex projects to completion in a team environment.
-
Nice-to-have: experience with FinFET/GAA technologies, EM/IR analysis tools, EMX, mixed-signal AMS simulations, and Matlab-based analysis scripts; experience in electrical transceiver and backplane/cable link applications.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualification options: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience. (No specific field-of-study mandated in the posting.)
