Analog Mixed Signal Firmware Engineer
AppleJob Title
Analog Mixed Signal Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement digital firmware and RTL for advanced mixed-signal circuits, work with verification and lab teams to validate and bring-up designs. The role is on a hardware development team focused on analog/mixed-signal interfaces for consumer devices.
Experience Level
Mid-level; specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Deliver digital/firmware components for mixed-signal systems and support verification and lab integration.
- Specify and micro-architect digital blocks for advanced mixed-signal circuits.
- Implement RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for blocks you or others specify.
- Develop verification artifacts: write assertions, debug RTL, and collaborate with verification engineers.
- Support lab bring-up: write test scripts, analyze lab data, and propose experiments to validate silicon.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital/analog subsystems.
Requirements
Core skills and tools required; preferred items listed separately.
- Knowledge of mixed-signal concepts applicable to digital/analog interfaces.
- Experience with RTL design and implementation.
- Proficient in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with front-end tools: simulators, linters, clock-domain crossing checkers.
- Experience writing and using assertions for verification and debugging RTL.
- Ability to write test scripts and analyze lab measurement data for bring-up.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have
- Scripting skills (Python, Perl).
- Knowledge of synthesis, static timing analysis, and DFT.
- Experience with SystemVerilog assertions, checkers, and advanced verification techniques.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is listed as preferred; candidates with equivalent industrial experience or an equivalent degree are acceptable. (No other degree or field-of-study requirements specified.)
