Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Engineer, Principal
Role Summary
Design and architect high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits for photonic transceivers and electronic ICs (EICs) targeting 50G/100G optical links. Work on system-level partitioning and collaborate with photonics, digital, packaging, and validation teams to deliver scalable, low-power, high-performance EICs for optical compute and interconnects.
Experience Level
Senior / Principal — typically 10+ years of analog/mixed-signal (AMS) design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system- and transistor-level design, verification planning, and enabling production test for AMS circuits used in optical links.
- Perform top-down architectural analysis of AMS systems and translate system requirements into circuit specifications.
- Analyze digital and photonic subsystem requirements and define their impact on AMS partitioning and performance.
- Evaluate and select high-performance analog topologies to meet noise, linearity, power, and area targets.
- Apply digitally assisted analog techniques to enhance system performance.
- Conduct transistor-level feasibility studies and iterate circuit designs.
- Define design specifications, verification plans, and production/bench-level test plans.
Requirements
Concise list of required and preferred technical skills and experience.
-
Must-have: 10+ years AMS design experience; hands-on experience with high-speed AMS circuits such as PLLs/DLLs, ADCs, regulators, amplifiers, TX/RX, and CDRs.
-
Must-have: Strong expertise in ultra-low-power analog design, digitally assisted analog circuits, and high-speed architecture trade-offs.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Verilog-A modeling; familiarity with AMS design flows, chip assembly, and production test practices.
-
Must-have: Experience working with layout, verification, and production test engineers; strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-domain collaboration.
-
Nice-to-have: Background collaborating with photonics, AI/ML system teams, or packaging engineers; experience targeting optical transceiver EICs.
-
Compliance: Ability to meet export-control eligibility requirements where applicable.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in a related area of expertise (as stated in the posting).
