Analog Layout Manager
Role Summary
Lead a small analog layout team within Central Engineering to deliver analog macros from initial planning through tape-out. The role requires close collaboration with CAD, technology, and circuit-design teams and is based onsite in Pavia, Italy (five days per week).
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 10+ years in analog layout design and at least 3 years in management.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and develop a team of full-time and contract layout designers.
- Plan and track layout schedules, floorplans, and risks for analog macros; hire additional designers as needed.
- Perform hands-on macro-level layout work and provide technical mentoring.
- Coordinate with CAD, technology, and circuit-design teams to synchronize schedules with overall project plans.
- Identify, prioritize, and mitigate project tasks and layout risks to meet tape-out timelines.
- Communicate status, issues, and proposed solutions to cross-functional project teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Deep understanding of layout methodology from initial chip planning to tape-out.
- Strong LVS and DRC debugging skills; able to interpret Calibre DRC, ERC, and LVS reports.
- Proficient with Synopsys or Cadence layout entry tools.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and organize an analog layout team; experience managing schedules and hiring.
- Hands-on analog macro layout experience and strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; experience in conflict resolution and consensus building.
- Fluent in Italian and English (minimum B2 level for both).
- Ability to work onsite in Pavia five days per week and collaborate with global teams.
- Eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates may be subject to export-license review.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced process technologies and FinFET.
- Programming skills in Skill, TCL, or Perl.
Education Requirements
BSc (Bachelor's) or equivalent required; equivalent practical experience is accepted.
