Analog Layout Intern
Role Summary
Internship within Marvell's Central Engineering analog layout team in Pavia. The intern will learn IC layout CAD and physical verification tools, support mask/layout design, and contribute to analog layout optimization under mentorship.
Duration up to 6 months, on-site in Pavia; work focuses on hands-on layout tasks, verification checks, and collaboration with layout and project teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Internship. Suitable for current students or recent Bachelor/Master graduates; no prior industry experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary tasks and day-to-day activities include:
- Learn and use IC layout CAD and physical verification tools (Cadence Virtuoso EXL/Custom Compiler, Synopsys tools).
- Create mask/layout designs from circuit schematics and follow technology design rules (advanced CMOS nodes).
- Run and analyze DRC and LVS checks; address violations.
- Apply EM/IR awareness to analog layouts and perform parasitic-aware optimization (area, R/C parasitics).
- Collaborate with layout, circuit, and project teams; attend regular mentor and team meetings and present progress or issues.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- Fundamental understanding of basic electronic components (diode, transistor, capacitor, resistor) and basic digital concepts (latches, flip-flops, combinational logic).
- Strong communication skills for team updates and presentations to global teams.
- Fluency in English and working knowledge of Italian.
- Eligible to work in Italy without restrictions.
- Self-motivated, willing to learn CAD and verification tool flows, and able to work in a small team environment.
Education Requirements
Student in Electronics/Electronic Engineering or a similar technical field enrolled at an accredited Italian university, or a Bachelor/Master graduate in Electronics/Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline.
