Job Title
Analog IC Design Principal Engineer
Role Summary
Senior analog/RF IC design engineer in Central Engineering responsible for leading design of high-performance optical transmitter front-end circuits (TIAs, drivers, modulators) and related analog blocks. The role is on a small analog team supporting multiple product spokes including networking, storage and optical systems.
Experience Level
Senior / Principal level. The posting requests approximately 10–15 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Design and validate high-performance analog and RF circuits for optical interfaces and related subsystems.
- Architect and design optical modulator and laser driver circuits, primarily in SiGe BiCMOS and CMOS technologies.
- Design transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), drivers and broadband analog front-end circuits for multi-tens-of-GHz bandwidths.
- Develop transmission line structures and high-speed circuit techniques to extend performance limits.
- Design supporting analog blocks: linear regulators, bandgaps, AGC loops, current/voltage sensors, filters, PLLs.
- Perform lab testing and prototype evaluation to verify designs meet specifications.
- Collaborate with system, verification and layout teams to bring IP to production-quality level.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proven experience designing mixed-signal and RF circuits: ADCs/DACs, RX/TX paths, PLLs, filters, biasing and regulator circuits.
- Deep knowledge of deep sub-micron CMOS processes and experience with SiGe BiCMOS technologies.
- Experience with high-speed and low-power analog design techniques for multi-GHz applications.
- Proficiency with IC design and simulation tools (Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB, HSPICE/HSIM, Verilog, or similar).
- Hands-on lab skills for evaluation, debugging and characterization of prototypes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to drive complex analog projects to completion.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience specifically in optical transceiver front-ends, PAM4 systems, or coherent long-haul optical designs.
- Prior work on transmission-line based circuits or advanced packaging considerations for high-speed I/O.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. The posting indicates 10–15 years of experience accompanying these degree levels.
