Analog IC Design Engineer
AppleJob Title
Analog IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate analog integrated-circuit blocks (primarily ADC/DAC and precision analog blocks) through specification, behavioral and transistor-level modeling, layout, laboratory validation, and production test support. The role works on integration-level verification and handoff to production test and manufacturing teams in a hardware development organization.
Works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, yield, and ESD requirements.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates with approximately 3β7 years of relevant analog IC design experience are appropriate.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, verification, and production readiness of analog IC blocks:
- Specify analog portions of ICs and define architectural requirements.
- Perform behavioral modeling to validate architectures.
- Conduct transistor-level feasibility studies for ADC/DAC blocks.
- Design circuit blocks, document designs, and prepare for formal design reviews.
- Drive mask/layout implementation and coordinate layout views.
- Run top-level simulations to validate block integration.
- Define production and bench-level test plans and collaborate with test engineering.
- Perform lab measurements and validate analog performance with test equipment.
- Analyze yield and test results and lead design fixes; ensure ESD compliance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education requirements are summarized separately below.
- Must-have: Deep knowledge of ADC/DAC architectures and applications.
- Must-have: Expertise in band-gaps, bias circuits, op-amps, switched-capacitor circuits, LDOs, and feedback techniques.
- Must-have: Strong low-noise and high-precision analog design techniques, including handling device mismatch.
- Must-have: Proficiency in modeling with C, MATLAB, and Verilog.
- Must-have: Solid understanding of device physics as applied to analog IC design.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators for validation.
- Must-have: Experience collaborating with production test engineers to finalize test plans and interpret yield/test data.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with layout/EDA tools and mask-generation processes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (statement in source: "Bachelor's degree in a relevant field").
