Analog IC Design Engineer
Fidelis CompaniesJob Title
Analog IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify precision analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for ASIC/SoC integration or stand-alone products. Work within a semiconductor design team alongside product marketing, senior designers, layout, applications, and test engineers to take designs from concept through tape-out, silicon validation, and product release.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role requires at least five (5+) years of analog/mixed-signal integrated circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering tasks and cross-functional collaboration expected for this role.
- Design basic analog and mixed-signal building blocks (amplifiers, comparators, bandgap references, LDOs, data converters, PLLs).
- Perform transistor-level schematic capture and rigorous circuit simulations (DC, AC, transient, noise, Monte Carlo) across PVT corners.
- Create and maintain behavioral and Verilog-A/AMS models for system-level and mixed-signal simulation.
- Collaborate with layout engineers or perform custom IC layout, addressing matching, shielding, parasitics, and DRC/LVS checks.
- Assist in defining test plans and characterize silicon in the lab using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other bench equipment; debug performance discrepancies.
- Prepare and participate in design reviews; produce validation and design review reports.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items indicated where appropriate.
- Minimum five (5+) years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience (must).
- Strong understanding of analog design fundamentals and device physics (must).
- Experience with transistor-level design, schematic capture and custom layout (must).
- Proficiency with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Siemens AFS / Symphony Pro, Synopsys PrimeSim (must).
- Experience with Verilog-A and MATLAB/SCILAB for behavioral modeling and simulation (must).
- Experience with lab bench equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers (must).
- Ability to perform rigorous PVT/Monte Carlo analysis and ensure manufacturable layouts (must).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and documentation (must).
- Nice-to-have: specific experience with PLLs, high-performance ADC/DAC, bandgap references, or power-regulator design (preferred).
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering is specified.
