Principal Analog Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the definition, design, verification and documentation of CMOS mixed-signal analog/digital blocks (data converters, PLLs, analog/digital filters, LDOs, precision references, comparators, fingerprint AFE, audio amplifiers, high-speed SERDES). Responsible for architecture, circuit specifications, simulation, layout oversight and silicon evaluation within the Analog Mixed Signal Design team in Toronto.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 8+ years of ASIC design/verification or related work experience (6+ years with a PhD). Significant analog/mixed-signal IC design and silicon experience expected.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

• Define architecture and circuit specifications from system-level requirements.
• Design and simulate transistor-level circuits and analog building blocks.
• Propose and execute verification strategies; present simulation results for peer review.
• Oversee physical layout to minimize parasitics and ensure manufacturability.
• Lead silicon bring-up, correlate measurements with simulation, and iterate designs.
• Document design features, testbench metrics and provide technical guidance to the team.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience (degree requirements are summarized below).

• Must-have: Proven analog/mixed-signal IC design experience in advanced CMOS (planar or FinFET) and silicon-proven implementation of analog blocks.
• Transistor-level circuit design experience and familiarity with SPICE simulators and simulation methods.
• Experience with Cadence ADE and other EDA tools for schematic entry, layout, and verification; experience using MATLAB.
• Experience optimizing CMOS layout and designing for reliability (aging, overstress, electromigration).
• Knowledge of Verilog-A for analog behavioral modeling.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with analog design automation and prior work on high-speed SERDES/ADC/PLL-related circuits.
