Job Title
Analog Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Senior analog/mixed-signal design engineer responsible for leading the architecture, transistor-level design, verification, silicon bring-up, and production handoff of analog and mixed-signal blocks and subsystems.
Works cross-functionally with layout, digital, validation, and product teams; mentors junior engineers and drives improvements in design methodology and robustness.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in analog and/or mixed-signal IC design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include end-to-end design, verification, and production support for analog/mixed-signal IP and subsystems.
- Lead design and development of analog and mixed-signal circuits, blocks, and subsystems from concept through production.
- Develop architecture proposals and evaluate tradeoffs for performance, power, area, and cost against project constraints.
- Run circuit simulation, verification, and optimization using industry-standard tools (SPICE, Spectre, or equivalent).
- Own tape-out activities, silicon bring-up, lab characterization, and hands-on debug.
- Collaborate with layout engineers to ensure manufacturability and design intent transfer to silicon.
- Define and execute validation plans focused on meeting product requirements.
- Review specs, schematics, and lab results; drive technical design reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
- Work cross-functionally with system, digital, validation, and product teams to resolve issues and keep projects on schedule.
- Drive improvements in design methodologies and best practices.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience are listed first; followed by desirable skills.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on analog and/or mixed-signal IC design experience.
- Deep understanding of transistor-level circuit design and analysis; strong schematic and simulation interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE and Spectre (or equivalent).
- Practical experience with silicon debug, characterization, and hands-on lab equipment.
- Knowledge of design methodologies for robustness, reliability, and testability.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical discussions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with high-speed interfaces, data converters, PLLs, power-management, sensors, or similar analog/mixed-signal blocks.
- Familiarity with deep submicron CMOS processes.
- Exposure to DFT, DFM, or product engineering flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is specified; master’s or PhD is preferred.
