Job Title

Analog Design Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Senior analog/mixed-signal engineer responsible for architecture, circuit design, verification guidance, and post-silicon analysis of high-speed SERDES IP. The role works within an analog and mixed-signal R&D team focused on advanced process nodes and high-speed connectivity.

Work involves transistor-level design, system-level budgeting, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring team members to deliver robust silicon IP.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting describes a seasoned professional; preference for candidates with extensive analog IC design experience. The listing also specifies minimums for degrees and experience (see Education Requirements), and the role commonly requires long-tenured hands-on SERDES design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical leadership across SERDES development, verification support, and post-silicon analysis.

  • Review SERDES standards and develop transceiver architectures and sub-block specifications.
  • Investigate and architect circuit solutions to improve power, area, speed, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with analog and digital teams to optimize design and verification flows.
  • Guide physical layout decisions to minimize parasitics, device stress, and process variation impact.
  • Present and review simulation and silicon data with internal teams, customers, and industry panels.
  • Document design features, test plans, and results; consult on electrical characterization and post-silicon fixes.
  • Analyze customer silicon data and propose design updates to resolve field issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; education details are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Proven experience with FinFET technologies and CMOS tape-outs.
  • Deep knowledge of Multi-Gbps high-speed designs (PAM4, NRZ) and SERDES architectures.
  • Extensive hands-on design experience with SERDES sub-circuits (TX/RX, adaptive equalizers, PLL/DLL, BGR, regulators, oscillators, ADC/DAC).
  • Analog/digital co-design expertise, calibration and timing handoff for optimized circuit performance.
  • Familiarity with ESD protection, custom digital design, and reliability concerns (EM, IR, aging, self-heating).
  • Proficiency with schematic entry, physical layout practices, design verification tools, and SPICE simulators.
  • Experience scripting for simulation post-processing (TCL, Perl, MATLAB or equivalent).
  • Understanding of system-level budgeting (jitter, amplitude, noise) and signal integrity (packaging, parasitics, crosstalk).
  • Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills; ability to present technical results to diverse audiences.

Education Requirements

Degree expectatons: MTech / MS (with 4+ years practical analog IC design) or BTech / BS (with 5+ years practical analog IC design) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting emphasizes practical analog IC design experience; no certifications or PhD requirement specified.
