Job Title

Analog Design Intern, MS - Summer 2027

Role Summary

Internship position on the Central Engineering Test Chip Development team. The team validates custom SRAM, logic, I/O, and security circuits, designs test chips, and develops lab infrastructure for silicon characterization.

The role focuses on implementing Verilog-based test patterns and simulations, developing lab environments and automation, and analyzing silicon characterization data to verify circuit performance.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current MS students (master's level). Intended for candidates in graduate programs; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and verifying test chip experiments, developing lab infrastructure, and automating measurement and analysis tasks.

  • Design and verify test chip experiments using Verilog simulation.
  • Develop, generate, simulate, and debug Verilog-based test patterns for hardware validation.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory environments for hardware debug, diagnostics, characterization, and measurement collection.
  • Create software tools and automation scripts (Perl, Python, Tcl) for design support, measurements, data processing, and results analysis.
  • Analyze, summarize, document, and present characterization and validation results to engineering teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and abilities for successful performance in the internship.

  • Strong understanding of digital logic, memory architectures, I/O circuits, and semiconductor device physics.
  • Experience with Verilog simulation and test pattern development.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Perl and Python; familiarity with Tcl is beneficial.
  • Experience with hardware debug, diagnostics, or lab measurement tools is useful.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a master's degree program (MSEE, MSCE, or related technical field) with expected graduation between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028. The posting also references PhD candidates in context of additional compensation but the role is targeted at MS students.
