Analog Design Intern
Marvell TechnologyJob Title
Analog Design Intern
Role Summary
This is a hands-on internship on the AMS COMPHY analog/mixed-signal team in Da Nang focused on analog IC design for high-speed SerDes PHYs in advanced CMOS nodes. You will learn the full analog design flow and contribute to circuit design, simulation, and characterization under mentor guidance.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students currently pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree with expected graduation in 2027 or 2028.
Responsibilities
Work on practical analog IC design tasks and participate in team design activities.
- Learn and apply analog IC design fundamentals (device behavior, noise, distortion, feedback, stability, differential circuits).
- Interpret specifications and help design and simulate basic analog building blocks (amplifiers, OTAs, current mirrors, comparators, LDOs).
- Run schematic and post-layout simulations using industry EDA tools, including PVT corner and Monte Carlo analysis.
- Optimize circuits for performance, noise, power, and area.
- Support mixed-mode simulation, circuit analysis, and, where applicable, silicon evaluation and characterization.
- Participate in technical readings, presentations, and design reviews; document results.
- Collaborate with layout, verification, validation, and CAD teams and learn from mentors.
Requirements
Key skills and attributes required for success in the role.
- Solid understanding of analog circuit fundamentals and transistor-level design.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and basic CMOS fabrication concepts.
- Familiarity with basic analog building blocks and their functions (op-amps, LDOs, current mirrors, PLLs).
- Good English reading, writing, and presentation skills suitable for technical documentation and design reviews.
- Self-motivated, curious, strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to have:
- Hands-on experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, or similar SPICE simulators.
- Academic or personal projects in analog or mixed-signal IC design (OTA, bandgap, LDO, etc.).
- Basic Linux/Unix and scripting skills (Python, Tcl, MATLAB).
- Interest or background in high-speed SerDes, PLL/clocking, or data converters.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical & Computer Engineering; expected graduation 2027 or 2028. Completed coursework in circuit theory, electronics, analog circuits, and microelectronics/integrated circuits is expected.
