Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design precision analog building blocks that set accuracy and stability limits in mixed-signal products. Work spans transistor-level design, simulation, layout oversight, silicon bring-up, and cross-site collaboration with global design teams.
This role focuses on references, amplifiers, bias networks, comparators, oscillators, and temperature sensors to meet offset, drift, noise, and stability targets across process and temperature.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: MSEE +7 years analog IC design or PhD +5 years; equivalent professional experience considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on design, verification, and cross-team coordination for precision analog blocks.
- Design and implement transistor-level precision analog circuits: op amps, OTAs, voltage/current references, bandgaps, bias generators, comparators, oscillators, and temperature sensors.
- Apply AI/ML techniques to improve design automation, optimization, and modeling workflows.
- Execute designs from schematic capture through simulation, layout oversight, and post-layout verification.
- Perform matching analysis, noise budgeting, and systematic offset reduction across process corners and temperature.
- Develop trimming and calibration strategies, including digitally enhanced on-chip techniques for accuracy over life and environment.
- Support silicon bring-up, debug, and correlate measured results with simulation predictions.
- Collaborate on architecture trade-offs where precision metrics compete with power, area, and bandwidth.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and collaboration capabilities.
- Strong transistor-level design skills for high-performance precision analog circuits.
- Proven ability to deliver designs through tape-out, silicon validation, and production release.
- Solid understanding of CMOS and BCD process technologies, device physics, matching, and layout-dependent effects.
- Proficiency with Cadence IC design suite: Virtuoso, Spectre/APS, and AMS Designer.
- Deep knowledge of noise analysis, offset trimming, and precision design techniques for references and amplifiers.
- Fluent Mandarin and strong English written and verbal communication skills for cross-site collaboration.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across global, cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced process nodes, high-voltage or low-power design techniques.
- Familiarity with temperature compensation, curvature correction, and precision calibration architectures.
- Experience applying AI/ML to circuit design flows or automation tools.
Education Requirements
Degree expectation: MSEE (preferred) with 7+ years of analog IC design experience, or PhD with 5+ years; BSEE considered with equivalent practical depth. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
