AMS Validation Manager
Role Summary
Hands-on engineering manager leading the AMS Silicon Validation team in San Diego. Responsible for building a high-performing validation organization, owning validation execution from first silicon through production readiness, and partnering across sites to deliver complex mixed-signal and high-speed IP programs.
Experience Level
Senior β requires substantial senior-level experience. The role expects 12+ years in silicon validation or related semiconductor engineering and 3+ years of technical leadership or engineering management.
Responsibilities
Lead technical execution and team development for AMS silicon validation across multiple product generations and sites.
- Build and develop a high-performing local validation team through hiring, coaching, and mentoring.
- Remain technically engaged in silicon bring-up, characterization, complex debug, failure analysis, and validation execution.
- Plan and execute validation programs from first silicon to production readiness, ensuring timely issue resolution and quality delivery.
- Partner with Design, Architecture, RTL, Verification, and validation teams across sites to deliver multi-site programs on aggressive schedules.
- Establish cross-site execution models and distribute technical ownership to balance workload and provide continuous validation coverage.
- Drive improvements in validation methodologies, lab infrastructure, automation, AI-assisted validation, robotic test systems, and data analytics.
- Manage multiple concurrent silicon programs, balancing priorities, resources, schedules, risks, and delivery commitments.

Must-have: 12+ years experience in silicon validation, mixed-signal design, analog design, or related semiconductor engineering.

Must-have: 3+ years of technical leadership or engineering management experience leading validation or mixed-signal teams.

Must-have: Strong hands-on experience in silicon bring-up, validation planning, characterization, complex debug, stress-to-fail, root-cause and failure analysis, and validation of advanced mixed-signal or high-speed interface IPs.

Must-have: Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineers and to build high-performing technical teams.

Nice-to-have: Experience with SerDes, PCIe, UCIe, PLLs, Ethernet, signal integrity, jitter analysis, equalization, or similar technologies.

Nice-to-have: Experience with validation automation and tooling (Python frameworks), AI-assisted validation workflows, robotic test systems, machine learning, and data analytics applied to validation.

Nice-to-have: Experience operating in geographically distributed or matrixed organizations and recruiting or scaling cross-site engineering capability.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (as stated in the posting).
