Job Title

AMS Layout Engineer Intern - BS (2027 Co‑op)

Role Summary

Implement transistor-level physical design for high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits used in silicon photonics transceivers and electronic ICs. Work within the AMS team to deliver scalable, low-power, high-performance EIC layouts in advanced CMOS processes.

Expected base pay: CAD 34–45 per hour.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Co-op (undergraduate). Intended for Bachelor's students; no prior professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

• Design transistor-level layouts for high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits in advanced CMOS processes.
• Perform floorplanning, routing, and ensure compliance with design rules (DRC) and schematic connectivity (LVS).
• Collaborate with analog circuit designers to optimize layouts for performance, power, and area.
• Develop and maintain scripts and small automation tools to improve flows, tools, and methodologies.

• Must-have: Solid foundation in CMOS digital electronics.
• Must-have: Good written and oral communication skills; proactive and quick to learn.
• Must-have: Eligibility to access export-controlled technology; applicants may be subject to export license review.
• Nice-to-have: Foundation in analog electronics.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with scripting (Python, Perl) and small automation tools.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with transistor-level floorplanning, EDA layout tools, DRC/LVS processes, or prior layout experience.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (BS) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related field; this posting targets undergraduate co-op/Bachelor's students.
